Instrument Explorer Features

   InstrumentExplorer is typically used together with our products Netstation, QuoteList, and with charts - FinanceChart or ChartStation when the number of instruments available from the feed is big. With InxtrumentExplorer you can easily maintain thousands of live or delayed instruments by grouping them using variuos criteria, from simple to complex, all of them defined from HTML parameters.
You can filter the output from the results area by using 'Search for' textfield and the search criteria defined in 'Options'.

Instruments management

  • Tree view of the instruments:
    The tree view enables you to create a hierarchical structure of categories and instruments. Using the contextual popup menu you can easily customize your favorites instruments that are held in a special node called 'Favorites'.

  • Favorites node facility:
    The favorites node contains your favorites instruments. You can simply manage the entire structure of this node by creating new categories/instruments, moving up/down the nodes or deleting, cutting, pasting the nodes. The favorites node contains a special category called ‘Recents’ where will be placed the last used instruments.

  • Favorites in a new tab:
    You can easily place your 'Favorites' instrument tree in an individual tab, separating the 'Favorites' from the traditional instrument tree, by setting a special html parameter.

  • Support for category grouping (by market, by type):
    The InstrumentExplorer offers the possibility of category grouping. The grouping can be performed 'by market' (the markets will be seen as top tree nodes), 'by type' (the node types will be seen as top tree nodes) or 'all'. There are seven predefined types of instruments available: 'Not classified', 'Bond', 'Index', 'Futures', 'Option', 'Stock' and 'Warrants'. If a node is empty (does not contain any instruments or subcategory) then it will not be displayed.

  • Alphabetical grouping for the instruments:
    In order to get a better experience and handling, the instruments from a specific market, are grouped alphabetically by name.

  • Instruments preloading:
    The instruments constituents of a market will start to load in the moment of loading the applet or in the moment of starting the searching/opening of a market node.

  • Instruments loading from StreamingServer, HTML or text files:
    The InstrumentExplorer can load the instruments list from our database, from the applet's HTML parameters and also from a text file. By using each one or a mix of this available options, you can build custom instrument tree personalized for each group of users from your website: e.g. you can provide for Forex trading users a list with real time currencies grouped by country or by market, or the top 25 pairs of most traded currencies.

  • Support for multiple selection :
    Using multiple selections in InstrumentExplorer, available using both the keyboard and the mouse, you can mix together category nodes and instrument nodes. The available operations are drag & drop, delete, cut/copy and send to.

  • Drag & Drop:
    The structure of the instruments tree can be changed by using drag & drop actions.

    Search

  • Flexible search by offering the options pane:
    You can use the options pane facility by selecting the search type (starts with, contains, ends with), the instrument type, the market and the part of the instrument where to check (name or symbol).

  • On the fly instruments search:
    You can quickly find the instruments you're interested into by typing the text you want to find. The resulting instruments are filtered on the fly (dynamically) using the settings from Options pane. After filtering the instruments are alphabetically sorted and automatically scrolled up.
